Douglas Morel, a perfumer born in northern France, was captivated by the scents from his family kitchen, sparking an early interest in perfumery. His first olfactory memory, experienced in the Damascus bazaar, left a lasting impression, inspiring him to recreate the scent of cinnamon, cumin, and cardamom. After studying at ISIPCA, he apprenticed at Takasago, where he learned from perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, mastering the art of blending raw materials into balanced compositions.
Morel's passion for perfumery was further nurtured by his professional experiences, including his work with architects at an Amsterdam-based creation laboratory. This diverse background has shaped his unique approach to fragrance creation.
Throughout his career, Morel has been driven by a desire to capture and recreate the powerful sensations evoked by his earliest olfactory memories, continually seeking to push the boundaries of perfumery.
