Ralf Schwieger
Ralf Schwieger is a German perfumer known for creating innovative and conceptual fragrances. Born in Westphalia, Germany, he spent his childhood exploring forests and absorbing unusual scents. Schwieger studied chemistry before pursuing perfumery, training at the Givaudan-Roure school in Grasse. His approach to perfume-making is both intellectual and intuitive, often resulting in fragrances with unexpected personalities. Schwieger's notable creations include Hermès Eau des Merveilles, Frédéric Malle Lipstick Rose, and Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine. He is particularly drawn to woody, chypre, and transparent scents, and is known for his ability to translate abstract concepts into olfactory experiences. Schwieger's work on Eau des Merveilles, which pioneered a salty marine accord, is considered one of his greatest achievements in commercial perfumery.
